President’s Message:Overall, the atmosphere at September’s meeting at our new location was positive and constructive. At last count there were 26 people in attendance, that’s 40% of the membership. Along with many of the regular attendees, we welcomed back several long-standing members that we haven’t see in many years as well as 4 new members and a couple of drop-in guests. The presentation by Jasmine James on native orchids of Australia was very informative and engaging. Jasmine provided a wealth of information on the various species of native orchids found in Australia, including their physical characteristics, habitat, reproductive habits, and conservation status. The photographs she shared during the presentation were stunning and truly showcased the diversity and uniqueness of Australian orchids. What I appreciated most about Jasmine's presentation was her emphasis on the importance of conservation efforts to protect these vulnerable species. She discussed the threats facing orchids, such as habitat loss, and some of the steps being taken to preserve them. Overall, Jasmine's presentation was well-organized, engaging, and informative, and I was left with a newfound appreciation for these incredible plants. As we move forward, we will continue to focus on providing valuable and informative presentations to our members. Our goal is to create a welcoming and supportive community of orchid enthusiasts who can learn from each other and share their experiences. We will also work on developing more outreach programs to educate the public about the importance of orchid conservation and the beauty these plants bring to our world. I want to take this opportunity to thank our members for their continued support and dedication to our organization. Your participation helps to make our meetings and events successful and enjoyable.
